We met Kelley a short time ago, through the most classic platform of contact between brands and celebrities (instagram, by the way). She immediately won us over with her energy, her availability, her enthusiasm and her positive and sweet attitude. And her desire to help as many people as possible to evaluate a plant-based lifestyle.
"I grew up in Sacramento, California, and I count my lucky stars that I have had the support of loving parents and two inspiring older brothers. I always loved to perform, but I also worked hard in school and played sports. I loved being a tomboy so much that, at one point, I chose to shop in the boys' section of Old Navy. I still feel most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt or button-down, although I'm starting to embrace my femininity more and more as I age. I'm getting to the point in my life where, for the sake of the environment (and, let's be honest - my sanity), I would rather own a few timeless pieces than a closet full of fast fashion. Sustainable fashion is important to me as it reflects my own values of protecting the environment and treating employees ethically. I am also vegan, so I'm passionate about supporting vegan, cruelty-free brands like Marzeri Milano.
I started transitioning into a fully plant-based lifestyle about five years ago, and I'll never go back. Why would I harm another sentient being unnecessarily? I love animals. They were not put on this planet for us to use and consume. I feel that, as a collective, humans tend to see the earth and all of its beautiful resources as though they exist strictly for our benefit. I believe we're meant to share as a part of a global, interdependent community. Thankfully, it does seem like we’re on the brink of a big shift in perspective.
While my job as an entertainer has largely been put on hold for the past year, I did relaunch my Patreon, which is a great platform for creators. It has provided a wonderful way to stay active as a musician and connect with my community from home. I have also been working with the non-profit Better Internet Initiative to produce content focused on issues such as climate change and social justice.
"What’s next for me? I’m gearing up to release my solo album! I could not be more excited about it. The music is almost finalized, and it is the most honest piece of art I've ever produced. I can't mention the album without crediting my co-writer Tom Strahle and co-producers Frenchie Smith and Mark Hapka. I love celebrating collaboration. We’ll soon start production on the video portion of the album, which Mark is also set to direct. "
